Lightning Protection Systems (LPS) III: Fatal Accidents due to Non-connecting Leader

Jobson Modena is an electrical engineer, director of GUISMO Engenharia, a member of the Brazilian Electricity Committee (Cobei), CB-3 of ABNT, where he currently participates as coordinator of the commission reviewing the standard for protection against atmospheric discharges (ABNT NBR 5419) and Brazil's representative on IEC TC 81. He is director of Guismo Engenharia.

More than 27 years of experience in leadership positions in leading national and multinational companies in the technology, engineering, industrial automation and electrical equipment sectors, graduated in Electrical Engineering from UFMG and Specialist in Business Management from FGV. Since 2019, he has been working as director of the Brazilian branch of Aplicaciones Tecnológicas, a Spanish multinational leader in innovative lightning protection and grounding solutions, with a solid track record in the area of lightning detection systems since 2005.

He holds a master's and doctorate in Electrical Engineering from EPUSP. He was director of the Power Division at the University of São Paulo's Institute of Energy and Environment from 2001 to 2011 and currently holds the position of substitute head of the Scientific Division of Energy Planning, Analysis and Development at the same Institute. He is currently secretary of EC 64.10 - Protection against atmospheric discharges, rapporteur of WG 11 (Protection of photovoltaic systems against atmospheric discharges) and Brazil's representative on IEC TC 81.
