He is Brazil's representative on IEC committees PC128 and TC99.

Dr. Márcio Bottaro has been a Laboratory Specialist at the Institute of Energy and Environment at the University of São Paulo (IEE-USP) for 29 years, participating in various processes of creation and accreditation of exclusive laboratories in Brazil and worldwide since 1995. He has a PhD in Nuclear Technology from the University of São Paulo and, between 2012 and 2016, he technically coordinated the development, execution and accreditation of the first laboratory in the Southern Hemisphere for characterizing and testing materials and PPE for electric arcs (LEVe-IEE-USP). He is currently the Supervisor of the Technical Service for the Safety and Performance of Electrical Equipment and Materials at IEE-USP and an Associate Researcher at LEVe-IEE-USP. He is the coordinator of CE-032:006.004 - Study Committee on Protective Clothing - Thermal Risks - Heat and Flames, of the Brazilian Committee on Personal Protective Equipment ABNT/CB32, and a Brazilian Specialist in IEC/PC 128 - Electrical Installation Operations, and IEC/TC78 - Live Work, in the working groups on Protection against Electric Arc.
